Prison help!

in Moral stories

An old man lived alone in Minnesota. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation:

Dear Son,
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden because your mother always loved planting time. I’m just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me, if you weren’t in prison.
Love,
Dad

Shortly, the old man received this telegram: ‘For Heaven’s sake, Dad, don’t dig up the garden!! That’s where I buried the GUNS!!’

At 4 a.m. the next morning, a dozen FBI agents and local police officers showed up and dug up the entire garden without finding any guns.

Confused, the old man wrote another note to his son telling him what had happened, and asked him what to do next.

His son’s reply was: ‘Go ahead and plant your potatoes, Dad. It’s the best I could do for you, from here.’

MORAL: NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THE WORLD, IF YOU HAVE DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING DEEP FROM YOUR HEART, YOU CAN DO IT. IT IS THE THOUGHT THAT MATTERS, NOT WHERE YOU ARE OR WHERE THE PERSON IS.

A beautifully composed story and the moral is highly projected. Doing good leave one with no excuse.

31. Lyka — November 22, 2011 at 2:21 am

haha. so nice!!! I love it. It gives so much moral value for us to help even if there’s a situation doesn’t let you to do it. Everything has its own way.

32. Gaurav_Luthra — November 25, 2011 at 7:42 am

Wow! But i know only love can make these things happen. I love the story.

33. Moin — January 7, 2012 at 12:40 am

It’s a wrong way, first thing he did something wrong that he was prisoned, the next thing is that its not the right way taking work from others, if he could be the honest person, then could help his father honestly

34. Shereen — February 2, 2012 at 6:54 am

amazing !!

35. VINAYAK — March 20, 2012 at 1:11 am

I agree with Mr MOIN (Sr no 33) instead of FBI Jailer could send his son along with other prisoners to do the social work. In INDIA now JAILS are called SUDHARGHAR. Otherwise story is OK.

I really love this story a lot… The moral is so true….! Feelings and their reciprocal actions are the qualities that distinguishes a person from the other….!

LOLz! The kid got the FBI to dig up the garden. I don’t know how legal that was. Won’t he get into more of it when they tell him they didn’t find any?

The son has some ‘splainin to do.
