Father was a hardworking man who delivered bread as a living to support his wife and three children. He spent all his evenings after work attending classes, hoping to improve himself so that he could one day find a better paying job. Except for Sundays, Father hardly ate a meal together with his family. He worked and studied very hard because he wanted to provide his family with the best money could buy.
Whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.
The day came when the examination results were announced. To his joy, Father passed, and with distinctions too! Soon after, he was offered a good job as a senior supervisor which paid handsomely.
Like a dream come true, Father could now afford to provide his family with life’s little luxuries like nice clothing, fine food and vacation abroad.
However, the family still did not get to see father for most of the week. He continued to work very hard, hoping to be promoted to the position of manager. In fact, to make himself a worthily candidate for the promotion, he enrolled for another course in the open university.
Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.
Father’s hard work paid off and he was promoted. Jubilantly, he decided to hire a maid to relieve his wife from her domestic tasks. He also felt that their three-room flat was no longer big enough, it would be nice for his family to be able to enjoy the facilities and comfort of a condominium. Having experienced the rewards of his hard work many times before, Father resolved to further his studies and work at being promoted again. The family still did not get to see much of him. In fact, sometimes Father had to work on Sundays entertaining clients. Again, whenever the family complained that he was not spending enough time with them, he reasoned that he was doing all this for them. But he often yearned to spend more time with his family.
As expected, Father’s hard work paid off again and he bought a beautiful condominium overlooking the coast of Singapore. On the first Sunday evening at their new home, Father declared to his family that he decided not to take anymore courses or pursue any more promotions. From then on he was going to devote more time to his family.
Father did not wake up the next day.

i think his learning from series of education is not enough for him to be a manager. because to be a manager you must know how to manage your work and family. you cannot perform well in your job if you could not understand the setting priorities.

The story never mentioned God. Yes, the Father probably did everything he could for his family but without having thoughts for God… Herein where he lost…. We can work hard and make money, BUT when those things get the better of us, then we may be in dire poverty in our soul.
Don’t let riches – or the pursuit of riches- derail our relationship with our family and God…
We all should balance to everything done for better life in this world.
Why poor father has been blamed always? It’s not his wish to stay away from the family. Its the responsibility for his family that makes him harsh. lt’s not the fault of the father but the company gives them loads and loads of work to finish before leaving the office… poor for his bread and butter he has to obey. So don’t blame father instead help him, love him, show him by your good deeds that you, family will return his your hard work in this form.

Very Good. This is reality of today’s scenario. We have to think seriously. ”WE ARE LEAVING LIFE FOR WORKING OR WORKING FOR LIFE LIVING”?
We won’t know what will happen tomorrow. When we are not satisfied with what we have and go for more, life will become a burden and we start to suffer more. On the other hand if we were satisfied with what we have we wouldn’t lose what we already have in the first place. A rich man is a satisfied man and a poor man is someone who thinks that he does not have enough. It’s not the matter of money that labels us rich and poor.
Alas! Death took off everything. All that hard-work was of no use. It filled my mind with immense sorrow bt changed my perspective one must live life to its fullest who knows whats going to happen in future.
Life is beautiful – Make it more beautiful by spending time with beloved one because no one knows, Why we are sent by god on earth.

It is nice story for those people who love their belove one but don’t know the way to express their love and think money is everything to keep the family happy. But at the end, it goes to waste. So enjoy your every current moment either work hard or not.

I think differently.He thought he has achieved and all his work is accomplished that is why he died. If he was planning to give more comfort for his family he might be alive to work hard to fetch them all.

🙁 reminds me of my father and fiancee… We dont have any children but i can see that in him so i always try to remind from time to time that i rather be poor if thats what it takes to have spend more time with his family.
