Horror gripped the heart of the World War I soldier as he saw his lifelong friend fall in battle. Caught in a trench with continuous gunfire whizzing over his head, the soldier asked his lieutenant if he might go out into the “no man’s land” between the trenches to bring his fallen comrade back.
“You can go,” said the lieutenant, “but i don’t think it will be worth it. Your friend is probably dead and you may throw your life away.” The lieutenant’s advice didn’t matter, and the soldier went anyway. Miraculously he managed to reach his friend, hoist him onto his shoulder and bring him back to their company’s trench. As the two of them tumbled in together to the bottom of the trench, the officer checked the wounded soldier, and then looked kindly at his friend.
“I told you it wouldn’t be worth it,” he said. “Your friend is dead and you are mortally wounded.”
“It was worth it, though, sir,” said the soldier.
“What do you mean; worth it?” responded the Lieutenant. “Your friend is dead.”
“Yes, Sir” the private answered. “But it was worth it because when I got to him, he was still alive and I had the satisfaction of hearing him saying, “Jim…, I knew you’d come.”
Many times in life, whether a thing is worth doing or not, really depends on how u looks at it. Take up all your courage and do something your heart tells you to do so that you may not regret not doing it later in your life. May each and every one of you be blessed with the company of TRUE FRIENDS. A true friend is one who walks in, when the rest of the world walks out. War doesn’t determine who’s right. War only determines who’s left.

Awesome story.. A friend in need is a friend indeed!! Stay blessed man.
Friends – precious gift of God… It is hard to have a true friend…
It’s very touching. We should believe in our friend’s more than ourshelves, which gives us true happiness and peace. Hat’s off to the soldiers who sacrificed their life in World War I.
Only fury of life can judge a true friend, in a pool of others who claim so…
It’s not only about friend, it’s about the moral courage the person has, not giving a second thought and stick to your decision. Listen to your heart rather than following your logic.
This is a great story.
The author here really posted interesting stories. This touching story about friendship gives different meaning to each of us. This brings back lots of memories and for sure, after reading this, you will value your best friend more.
I entered WWII, went on D-day, I was shocked went I saw a nearby friend blown to pieces and it’s hard to see people you know fall dead on the sandy beaches of normandy my friend. Sgt.Jeremy got hit by by the MG-42 and I ran towards him and I was shot in the back by a German sniper. I felt a brief sensation of pain and numbness and carried my friend on my shoulders and made it to a paramedic that was busy taking cover. My friend wasn’t fit for duty so I ran towards the barbed wire, blew it up and took the beach of normandy. I recieved the Medal of honor and the medal of heroism from general George.SS.Patton.

We all know the stories of our unsung heroes during the war. Despite of the chaos they’ve been through, we can still see real friendships blossomed. This is a great venue of trusting your life to someone in the middle of nowhere.
Thanks for this story. I want to use it to dedicate to my school friend, Anam Naz, for crazy gaming, playing games in recess (foot-foot)
and racing. She was good in studies, sports and other activities. May God bless her and keep smile on her face.
I only had few friends in my life but I am pretty sure they were all true friends,.. I consider them angels,. someone whom I know will be there in times when I need them the most.
Its a wonderful and a heart touching story!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the story…
very touching…
Thnx for such a nice story.. nice one…
Very nice story
Heart touching
Feeling pain for my lost friend
Some times satisfaction is more important than anything else. Do what satisfies you otherwise you will curse yourself your whole life…. Do it right now.
I am touched, love it.
It’s not only about friend, it’s about the moral courage the person has, not giving a second thought and stick to your decision. Listen to your heart rather than following your logic.
It’s really inspiring and I so much like it.
Weight can only be meausred by the shoulders who carry it. Regret is one that hangs on you forever, this man can live or die knowing that he is free of all guilt and did exactly what his friend would’ve done for him. Live for the now with a clear consious and you will be a better person to those around you.
The story brought tears to my eyes. I wonder if I ever could love someone that much in the face of battle. God helps us to be true friends!
Wars will destroy buildings, monoments etc but it will not hurt friends.
I am so tounched by this story
A true friend is a special gift from God
Friends are special gift of our life, but our life is incomplete, without a sincere friend.
It was one of those very beautiful, moving and instructive stories I have ever read in my life. It drastically manipulated my view of my true friends for the much better; those who have never left me alone especially in the face of diaster and suffering.
“The skill of a navigator and courage of a soldier appear in storm and battle field. The nature and heart of people become known in their face of diasters and tragedies.”
A touching story…….friendship of value n worth embracing which is a call for each one of us, from there we see blessing in our souls and live as God called us to be. Thank you.
True they say, true friends are better than silver and gold, because a true friend can never be bought at any point in time. A true friend is one who never says ”Goodbye” all he says is ”let me be, at least for now” this story makes us understand that a true friend never give up on another.
True friends are gift from God. Hope I am to be one.
True friends are those who are with you through thick and thin, won’t tolerate your mistakes, and encourage you whenever you are depressed.
Very touching.
True friends are not always the ones who grace your every occasion , a true friend is that person who stands by you during your trying times….
your stories are striking and inspiring ….imperative and educative keep it up and more grease to your elbow.
That is friendship
And I’m blessed cause I have true friends also namely kezia marty as b2 and leah grace minas which I called b3. Even how far or near we are on the each other. We always keep on touch through prayers. Because Jesus is the solid foundation of our friendshp. To God be the glory
Awesome story.. A friend in need is a friend indeed!!
That is friendship! Really it inspire the people.
The story teaches you to follow your heart….
What a awesome story. A true friend is God.
I am really touched & understood who is a true friend.
A true friend……
The story taught me that as friend we should stay through thick and thin together…
The story shows what true friend really is. We have to treasure our friends/best friends. It taught me a lot of lessons. A true friend last long and he/she will never leave you in times of problems. Also, true friend rebukes you in a right way, as stated in the Bible of the book of proverbs that, “open rebuke is better than hidden love.” God Bless!
Neat story with a great message about Friendship …

Wow!!!!!!! indeed life is all about trying…
This story reminds me of not too long back just last summer I was running calls in the volunteer fire department in sumiton Alabama when I got a phone call from my buddy that was like 500 yards away and he said to me and I quote “You got 15 second’s to get here or I’m pulling this trigger”.
Well by the time I got there I was just pulling in to his drive way and got to his car he pulled up his 12 gauge shot gun put the barrel in his mouth and I went to grab the gun and he pulled the trigger. Well after I woke up from passing out the cops rolled in and I told them what happened. While they were cleaning the scene the chief of police down there was like hey Chase look at this and it was a note that said “ALL I WANTED WAS TO SEE YAL ONE LAST TIME BE I DONE THIS” I still have the image in the back of my head.
Friendships can be so strong you do amazing things for your friends. I used this story for my homework where I had to find an inspirational story.
Very touching… I really like the story, it makes me cry..
