My mom only had one eye

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEE, your mom only has one eye!”

I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, “If you’re only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?”

My mom did not respond… I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.

Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then one day, my Mother came to visit me. She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at her, “How dare you come to my house and scare my children! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!”

And to this, my mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address.” – and she disappeared out of sight.

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died. I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

“My dearest son,

I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.

I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you. I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.

You see……..when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine.

I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With all my love to you,

Your mother.”

So sad. It is just a terrible thing that the boy was so mean to his mom. This was very sad for me to see how the boy tells his mom to go away because his mom only has one eye, because my mom teaches people with one, or no eyes. This made me cry. I wish I didn’t read this heart breaking story.

Only a Mother can sacrifice anything for the sake of her child. Mother is the incarnation of God on earth as it is always the Mother who can forgive her child for any of his mistakes, deliberate or otherwise.

Unfortunately, I lost my Mother when I was seven years old. I can just imagine how it feels to have a Mother who can do anything for me.

Tears rolled donw my cheek after reading this story and felt very bad for the son’s behaviour.

  • Kelvin May 31, 2013, 12:26 pm

This is such a touching story and this is exactly what is happening in the world today children are hating their parents. Come on people use this as an example you never knew what your mother went through to make you reach where you are or what was her experience in her early days. So people including myself respect and love and support your parents thats all they ask from us.

Such a sad story… I feel that in this world the pure love is the only mothers love towards their children…. so friends take care of ur parents…. who are living gods to us…..

  • Shivam April 23, 2013, 10:12 am

Mother is epitome of kindness and the shadow of god she does every possible sacrifice to keep her children happy but yet many do not even respect her.

The people who do such shameful act should be ashamed of themselves.

  • Anastasia April 22, 2013, 9:34 am

    So touching….. 🙁 🙁

  • Wise one April 20, 2013, 11:41 am

I think that you were just a child who didn’t know much. Much about your life or your mothers life. I think any decent mother would give her child a body part to make him/her fit in. I think thats what I would, and I also think you would do it too. I pity you, dear friend.

  • Apipudin Prajanegara April 16, 2013, 9:30 am

  • OT March 30, 2013, 3:50 pm

Is this a fake story? How could one be so mean to their mother? Why didn’t the mother say, “The reason why I have one eye is because of you!” Why didn’t she communicate this sooner? Or at least call him a mean brat or taught him not to behave so evil..

If he does this to his mother I wonder how he treats other people.. Human nature is messed up man just watch the news. Ignorance, absence of communication.. I would cherish and shield my mother if she only had one eye.

  • Brian Ray March 29, 2013, 9:14 am

  • Zulfiqar Ali March 17, 2013, 1:22 pm

Mother is a gift of God and it is true though that the mother can suffer any pain for her child but in few cases children don’t care for their parents.

In some cases when the father passes away, the mother has to care for the children all by herself and turn out the children never pay attention to the pain and hurdles she faced. Bitter but true and it goes on as it is the circle of nature or the modern world follow up…!

My god, if I were the son I would be very glad to have a mother like that.

I would not be embarrassed to have a mother with only one eye, I would be really proud of her to give an eye to me.

And if I were the son, I would say a million thanks to my mom and say as many sorry as I can.

    Thanks for Posting!
