My mom only had one eye

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEE, your mom only has one eye!”

I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, “If you’re only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?”

My mom did not respond… I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.

Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then one day, my Mother came to visit me. She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at her, “How dare you come to my house and scare my children! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!”

And to this, my mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address.” – and she disappeared out of sight.

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died. I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

“My dearest son,

I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.

I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you. I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.

You see……..when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine.

I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With all my love to you,

Your mother.”

My father passed on when I was five years old. I was brought up by a single mother who could neither read nor write. She did her best in life and compromised a lot for me to be a teacher today. Although I am teaching about 600km away from my home town, I have told my learners many times about her. I may not have at this stage done enough to appreciate her and this story is just a wake-up call for me. “Mom! you are my heroine. Only God knows how much Ilove you. Long Live!”

It’s really very sad and touching story of my life. And yes, mom is the most beautiful and important thing in the world πŸ™‚

I would give my eye for a mom like that. I grew up abused by mine. Finally I told her to go f-ck herself.

Even though she is still alive, I pretend she is dead because she never forgave me when I was a teenager and said mean things to her out of anger. She never was there and abandoned me when I embarrassed her in public with what I wore and she didn’t love me for I was not normal for her standards.

She also destroyed my relationship with distant relatives for her own sake of β€œattention” which she desperately seeks and has now attained full bloom since I told her off.

And what a taboo to tell your mom she is wrong.

I am a mom. My mom’s brain is inherited to me. I have her characteristics and her anger tantrums. I blow up and cry to myself sometimes. But I refuse to hit my kid, abuse him, or abandon him and then seek attention.

My mother and father divorced when I was a baby. They fought over me and I didn’t know who to pick. They went to court and my father won custody. He was an ok guy but I loved my mother. It is too late to switch now because they had both put soo much money and energy into this and I feel like I would betray my dad if I wanted to live with my mother. But I don’t want my mother to live without her first child for the rest of her life. I visit on weekends but that’s not enough. She never made me cry or feel bad. We barely argued. And when we did, she would yell at me and I would wait till it was over. I never got sad or angry or mad. I know she would just be frusturated so I would come over, hug her, and apologise. I would ask her if she was done and she would say yes. I love my mom.
Most people won’t read this message because it is so far down the comment list but MOTHERS ARE AMAZING.
For the people who say eye transplants are impossible, they are! IT IS ONLY A STORY! THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT IS REAL! Gosh, if an-almost-teen can figure it out, you can too!
This moral made me cry for five min. Strait. It is a good moral and people should learn from it!
    GO MOTHERS!!!!!!!!

Got no harsh words to tell them!

Respect your parents as the way you behave with your parents

  • Bridetlin January 26, 2013, 3:45 am

So sad story; as a child we should accept our family especially mom. Accept their difference in physical or whatever; if that what God gave you then learn to appreciate and be thankfull.. whatever you do to your mom somehow you feel it when you had a family in your own someday; it is a principle of sowing and reaping.

  • Deepak Menon January 25, 2013, 10:41 am

  • Kichutom January 16, 2013, 3:45 am

This story was really touching. I was in tears after reading it. Such people should be made to realise the love of a mother. If that fool would have come in front of me I would have kicked. I just hope every child understands the luve of mothers.

  • Vajashrava January 12, 2013, 12:38 am

While the unconditional love that parents give to their children and the sacrifices they make for the well being of their children is one thing, I truly appreciate all those parents who adopt children and bring them up as their own!

How much ever I think about it I am not able to convince myself that my love to an adopted child can’t match my love to my own biological child. God bless all those parents!

  • Ramya January 9, 2013, 9:57 am

  • Kirsty Kriesta January 9, 2013, 2:46 am

  • Mahesh Deep January 4, 2013, 8:38 pm

It is such a heart touching story. The first time I read this story was in facebook.

When I finished reading this story my tears fell down because the love for son by mom is beautiful. I think this is the best story which I have read in my life…

  • Eboni Scotland January 4, 2013, 8:26 pm

People this isn’t sad- it’s disturbing.

This man is a disgusting human being. As I was reading the story I was waiting to see “oh I begged my mom for forgiveness for being so cruel to her.” How could he be so petty? I couldn’t belive this at all. The mother was such a good hearted person to still find hope in her garbage son. I am just speechless.

I’m glad you figured out that you are a monster and that you set such a good example to your kids. Congratulations.

  • Bhaskar January 4, 2013, 11:38 am

Great story. Jesus, our savior, has the same story. He came to save us from our sins but many of us received Him not. I pray that on the occasion of celebrating His Birth Anniversary, we will completely welcome and receive Him in our hearts as our Savior and King. I pray this in His mighty name, Amen

  • Wendy December 13, 2012, 8:20 am

My son came home from school yesterday and tried to tell me the story but he couldn’t as he was crying so much. That made me cry too but we were laughing at ourselves at the same time. I didn’t really understand what he was trying to tell me so I looked up the story on line. His teacher had told the story in assembly and it has really affected my son. He is quite sensitive anyway but its a great way of reminding our kids how far we will go to protect and love them. Great message, thank you:)

  • Paulbii kenya December 10, 2012, 1:56 pm

I wish this is fiction. Can’t fathom the hatred and humiliation that mother went before she died. “Oh Jesus give us a heart to luv our parents more than anything else.”
