My mom only had one eye

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEE, your mom only has one eye!”

I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, “If you’re only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?”

My mom did not respond… I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.

Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then one day, my Mother came to visit me. She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at her, “How dare you come to my house and scare my children! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!”

And to this, my mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address.” – and she disappeared out of sight.

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died. I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

“My dearest son,

I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.

I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you. I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.

You see……..when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine.

I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With all my love to you,

Your mother.”

Do u guys know that a mother keeps her child on her belly for 9 months and each time she moves she feel pain. And after 9 months she gives birth. And do u know that a man can bear 20 fractures. And a mother while giving birth bears pain that is like 45 fractures. So whatever u sacrifice in ur life for ur mother u will never ever make enogh sacrifices like u mother did. So everyone should love and respect their moms more than anyone else in there life.

  • Bella August 17, 2010, 10:17 pm

Really, it is a very beautiful story about mothers’ love to her children. If God gives me a chance to meet my mother I will try to bring everything for my mom. She passed away. She will be in heaven. If she is looking at me, I want to say that I miss her every second. I love you mom. Why you leave us alone.

  • Leon D May 9, 2010, 2:46 pm

Shame on you! How dare you treat your mom like this! It wasn’t her fault for only having one eye! Now looks who’s suffering now! You will live in misery for the rest of your life!

At least your mother didn’t wish faults on you, wasn’t accusing you of stealing her belongings, she did not verbally abuse you like my mom did to me or say words that can never be taken back! She never said you are “evil minded” or you will be her worse enemy! and I don’t look forward to fighting with my mom the rest of our lives.

I pray that I will forgive instead of being enemies like you were with your mom! I think about that scumbag! You were lucky she loved you unconditionally! Perhaps the curse will come back on you and your “own children will do you the same way 3x you did to your mother!

Be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honor. And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and pray: “My Lord! bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood.”
[The Glorious Quran; Chapter #17; Verses 23-24]

He didn’t even realize that his eye is the one donated to him from his mom.

  • Pynadath February 6, 2010, 3:43 pm

This is a really touching story and it shows how much your parents care for you

  • Pramukh February 6, 2010, 3:29 pm

It was a lesson well learned for the boy. May it be a parent, or even someone/something you love; appreciate them/it whenever you have the chance to. Sacrificing something for someone is hard to do…even though if it is something like giving up your TV time so that your smaller brother can watch his show.

But I can guarantee it that no one in your life will ever make much sacrificies for you as your parents have done for you. It is extremely important to understand your parents and give love back them as long as you can…because you never know when you wake up to see that you don’t have any parents to sacrifice for you anymore…

That’s all I want to say.

  • Maryam January 25, 2010, 12:30 pm

What a touching story. That boy didn’t deserve anything she gave up her sight for himm and this was the thanks she get.

She was always nice to him never got mad in the way he treated her and this is what he does she should have not given him the sight. See we would see who is the nasty one then! Show how precious our moms and dads are. Care and look after them all the time.

This was soo sad! I almost cried. That rat ass bastard should have the privalage of having that much of a loving mother. She was so good to him and all he ever did was yell at her at what an embarrassment she was to him. I say he is a douche and he can get his own f**king eye if he wants one that badly.

This story is very touching. I visited this website just for finding story for the English Story Telling competition. But, I found this wonderful and touching story. I will tell this story in front of 230 pupils and teachers. I hope they’ll be touched. The moral values of this story is all mothers loved their child very much and would sacrifice everything for their child. We must also respect our parents no matter how they look like.

  • Priyanka September 23, 2009, 5:58 am

  • Capt. lacruser September 22, 2009, 5:55 am

This story brought me into tears. I thought a man like me can not easily affected by stories like this but it turned out in a different way.

A very sad story which reflect to all sons and daughters of life. While our parents, our relatives or the people we have known as our family are still with us, we must love them and care for them as much as we can. Great things are appreciated when it is over and difinitely if it will disappear before our eyes.

Ascertain this story to others. Let us make the world a better place!

  • Nice September 14, 2009, 12:19 am

This story is very sad but it spreads a very wide message.

Till now I have never respected my parents, I have not thanked for what ever they have done to me.

After reading this I realized what parents are and what their love is. Never I hurt my parents, never I scold my parents, never I complain about my parents….

I REALLY LOVE U MOM. I TRULY LOVE U DAD……. NEVER I REPEAT ALL THIS AGAIN..

I KNOW THERE IS NO SORRY FOR MY DEEDS, BUT STILL I PRAY U TO FORGIVE ME….

  • Agatha Lestari February 26, 2009, 11:35 pm

    That was sad story.

If God let me to see my mom, I will love her with all of my heart. But, my mom passed away when I was 3 months 3 days. I just send my prayer for her in my each pray.

Keep it up…I got your blog from my lecturer. It’s very helpful.

  • Raj February 26, 2009, 11:03 am

I think such bastards don’t deserve such an unconditional, utter love from anyone…………. I pray to god that every child respects his/her parents and would take care of them when they are old.

  • Hi February 21, 2009, 11:15 am
