My mom only had one eye

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.

How could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEE, your mom only has one eye!”

I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, “If you’re only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?”

My mom did not respond… I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.

Then, I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then one day, my Mother came to visit me. She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet her grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at her, “How dare you come to my house and scare my children! GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!”

And to this, my mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address.” – and she disappeared out of sight.

One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died. I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

“My dearest son,

I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.

I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not be able to even get out of bed to see you. I’m sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.

You see……..when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost your eye. As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine.

I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With all my love to you,

Your mother.”

It’s an emotional story and I admit that but I think we must learn how to respect our parents and I think the writer has given his point in a great way. I like the theme of the story and the message it conveys.

217. Hera — January 14, 2012 at 8:45 pm

This story really touched my heart and the lesson is very clear, love your parents for their love for you and the sacrifices they’ve made is unmeasured. Do all you can for them while they are still alive!

220. Dharmesh — January 22, 2012 at 1:20 am

This is a very touching story. In our Gujrati language there is a sentence: “Choru k choru thai, pan mavtar k mavtar na thai.”
It means: children could forget their duty, but parents could not.

221. Nanthu — January 24, 2012 at 4:20 am

This story is really touching. I will be more grateful if I got a mum like her but for me… my mum is 1% also not like her… actually she treats me like a maid. Hope God can change my situation like yours.

222. Pity Girl — January 24, 2012 at 4:23 am

Very touching :’-(

225. Ikechi Kalu — February 5, 2012 at 7:49 pm

Well that is a really sad story. It boils down to you don’t know what you have got until it is gone. People should learn how to treat their parents better, in the end you will be glad you did.

226. Godwin Chukwudi — February 6, 2012 at 6:30 am

If these stories ever happened, then the child is such a fool that is not contented and proud of d things he has no matter d condition!

227. Cosy — February 8, 2012 at 7:33 am

What a good mother. I’ve always loved my parents because they’ve showed me love and care all throughout my life. That is why I pray I don’t see anything in life that will make me disrespect their look or person no matter what.

228. Bright — February 10, 2012 at 10:31 am

You all are base on eye, eye and eye. Pls view this story in another perspective and drop the eye stuff. For the very fact that he is born and never aborted, he ought to luv his mum so dearly cos even with an eye he can achieve his greatness just as he did.
Such persons are not worthy to live, they should follow suit after the mum’s demise. I thank God for my parents, so caring and luvly, i wonder what i would had been without my parents by me.Though all parents are not kind to their very children but we got responsibilty to luv and cherish them for us to live long. This story is so pathetic!

229. Crystal — February 15, 2012 at 7:45 am

Gawd i am speechless! How could the son be so jerk?
:/

230. Jervic Reyes — February 18, 2012 at 10:16 am

Really touching story… made me realize more the meaning of my parents to me.. I just hope this won’t happen to anyone.

231. Natalie — February 21, 2012 at 1:28 am

What a story!! I don’t cry very easily and this brought me to tears! I never really grasp how much I love my mom, or my dad for that matter, and how important she is to me until I hear a story like this! If that were to happen to me, my mom would have done the same thing! My parents do so much for me and I am very lucky that I was adopted into a lovely, caring, Christian home! I should tell God and my parents I love them more often!

Thank you mom for loving me (even when I’m a pain) and for always caring for me! Thanks for always being there, to listen, and to pray for me, you are such a great mom, friend, and Godly example! I thank God that he put you in my life!!! :D

238. Shinaigo — February 27, 2012 at 6:45 am

Any person who cannot appreciate his parents, doesn’t deserve anybody’s love. I just pray that God will forgive him.

239. Julia — February 27, 2012 at 9:31 am

First of all, I want to say that this is the most touching story I have ever read in my whole entire life!

Before you hate someone that has disabilities, look at their HEART not their appearance! Just like the mother in the story she only had one eye but she SACRIFICED for her only child, her only son. maybe it’s true that she only had one eye but she is a really kind mum.

Before I read this story I was really shocked of the title and the first five words that came out in my head was,”I bet she’s so ugly.” but when I read the whole story………….
I just thought that no matter what the person’s appearance is, they are still human being that needs……..RESPECT!!!

240. Aqli — February 27, 2012 at 11:55 pm

I’m Indonsian
I see there is no thing could change our mothers’ love.
and it’s really touch story, even it’s hard to find that story will be happen in real life. but, as long as a kind of fiction could make our children better, it’s also need to be shared with them.

241. Noorahmed Abdulla — February 28, 2012 at 8:36 pm

May god protect us from becoming such ignorant hard hearted people. Under mothers feet lies heaven, that’s why god says make your parents happy and to achieve their happiness is what we should try to do and make them happy of us as it is our role as their children, may god shine his light and his book in our way and guide us to the right way.

242. Vimala Surjeeth — March 2, 2012 at 11:01 am

I was looking for stories for a mother’s day program and found this touching story. So I got the Balvikas students to act out this story as a drama play. Every one who came for the Mother’s Day program had tears.

“NEVER LET YOUR PARENTS SHADE TEARS OVER YOU”

243. Solomon — March 5, 2012 at 2:53 am

Wow this story touched alot and it is a kind of story that is supose to tell to youth about their parents. I love it.

244. Anusha — March 5, 2012 at 1:13 pm

Never look at the outer appearance, just try yo understand the hearts and mingle with the people.

245. Vikram Jain — March 7, 2012 at 12:42 am

That’s why we say FAMILY means FATHER AND MOTHER. I LOVE YOU.

246. Lilia D. Gahi — March 13, 2012 at 5:01 am

Such a sad story, with a such good lesson. Well I can not completelly blame the son for his actions. The mother never opened her mouth to explain to the little child about her love and sacrifice. Yet she never touth him to love and be loved. I think this story also shows the weakness of today’s generation; lack of appriciating family values, brocken homes etc. And we can not give our children unconditional love. We have to give them good upbringing not only good education. In this story there was no good comunication between mother and her son. Children has to be touth what is good and bad, to recognise what is wrong and what is right and so on and so forth.

247. shekhar — March 13, 2012 at 5:18 am

I im very emotional after reading this. How anyone can be like that. Really I respect the word MOTHER very much and more than GOD.

thanks for sharing such a story.
++100000 for you

248. Gobert — March 13, 2012 at 10:23 am

This is a very sad story. Shame on the kid. Accept your family for who they are. God has made them that way for a reason. Idiot for not accepting his mother and now she is dead. Great story though. Shared it with the whole family. Thank God i still have my mother.

249. Manish — March 15, 2012 at 11:58 am

253. Jacqui — March 24, 2012 at 8:38 pm

This story is so sad. It made me realize how not knowing the truth, or not listening to it, can make a huge impact on how you live your life. My parents are people I will cherish for the rest of my life.

254. Kunal — March 25, 2012 at 3:56 am

This is really a sad and heart touching story…. I will pray to god that no one mother should be treated like this. Our parents always sacrifices for us and we don’t assess (value) their sacrifices. This stories teach us to respect our parents in any condition.

We should always respect our parents.

255. Anonymous — March 30, 2012 at 8:03 am

Very touching story. That boy must be real guilty for what he did.

Every mom sacrifices for their children, but the children in turn are at some point of time ashamed of thier own parents, they show direspect, shouts at them for not understanding small things, they forget that they are the ones after God who holds them back in their bad times.

If I were the mother, I would stab a fork at the son’s eyes..so both of them become blind

260. Aztecdude — April 2, 2012 at 1:06 am

I still remember when my mom had me in her arms even though I wasn’t a baby anymore. I still remember how poor we were and mom not eating so I could eat. I still remember mom chasing me to scold me or tell me off; make me see my mistakes. I still remember mom not giving me permission to certain invitations and later knowing I could have been in trouble. I stil and will always remember mom’s unconditional love and care. Thank you mom!

I got the best mother in the world (my beloved Nanay Dely Sanchez), she passed away 7 months ago because of heart congestive failure. This story remindes me of her. Her love and sacrifices brought me here to appreciate life and love… Lucky those who still have their mothers around… love them with all of your heart while you still have the time… Our mother is our angel beyond compare…

265. Vimbai — April 12, 2012 at 6:58 am

A story having a special power to penetrate to our mind. Love from parents is like an ocean which has no end. Let’s keep it in mind that each of the moment with them is precious and give whatever we can give to them. The LOVE and CARE our parents are giving can not be replaced with anything. Let’s LOVE our parents from the heart………

276. Janz_kaye — April 24, 2012 at 2:37 am

I couldn’t believe that through this story I staggered as I stand and cried for a second… I was very touched with this story that really thought how really parents love their children. I am stubborn as a person and it helps me to recognize what my parents have done to me.

My beloved mother just passed away 8 months ago – everything was so fresh and vivid to me with all of her guidance, care, compassion and eternal love to us – I live every day of life reminded of her great sacrifices and love to me – This story reminds me of how tangible our mother’s love to us children. . .lets us not give our mothers – the reason to cry and be lonely – all thier doings are all for our sake! I envy you still have your mother around – love them more than the impossibilities. . .Nanay Dely – you will here in my heart forever! i love you. . .

281. Micah Igogo — April 28, 2012 at 4:38 pm

283. Luigi — May 3, 2012 at 3:09 am

So touching.. and true…

284. Christine M. Hosie — May 3, 2012 at 8:50 pm

From what I understand after checking online there is no such thing as an eye transplant. Its easy to understand how people are swayed by stories even if the basis of the story is not truth. It would be better if the story were about something that could really happen and didn’t tear tears out of your eyes for nothing.. If anything the idea of a mothers sacrifice would have been fine but this is fiction and deceptive to innocent readers that haven’t thought about if it were really possible to do an eye transplant. We are beings of feelings and peple like to play with our feelings this should be a lesson on how to not be a victim of someone elses games in life. . Arm yourselves with truth make knowledgable responses. Be sober thinking God will bless you.

312. Hatif Hammad — June 13, 2012 at 1:55 am

So nice and so good story! I just love it!!!

313. Reddy — June 13, 2012 at 6:59 am

The kind of feeling that this story gives is more than one can explain.

If at all this can happen to me, then I don’t see the need of my existence. Parents really care for us but we’re quick to forget. If I can do this to my parents, God forgive me in advance.

314. ANUPRASH DUTTA — June 14, 2012 at 11:08 am

319. BingDG — June 19, 2012 at 3:10 am

A mother is a patchwork of love and no one in the world can take place of a mother…Their love for their children emanates truly from deep within their hearts…that is genuine and true love.

Thank you my dear Mama for everything and to all the mothers.

I love this very heart warming story…

320. Soumya — June 19, 2012 at 8:35 am

I was reading all the comments, 1 of them wrote that itz also the mistake of mother that she never told her child about her sacrifice but if she ever said the truth his son feels most embaressing but he should be coz his mother done alot for him she gvies her son a chane to live life not thinking about herself but wat he do in back such a cruel child but anyway i cried after reading this strory n the ones who don’t hav mother or parents i feel very sad for them if i were their friends i never let them to feel bad if i m still there:)

321. Israel Subba — June 19, 2012 at 10:34 pm

322. Dr. Dustin — June 20, 2012 at 5:11 am

It bought me in to a flood of tears.
But if you saw the film in the end the son bursted out his tears on the letter.

323. Francis — June 21, 2012 at 6:52 am

This story was so inspiring, our professor told us this story last time…

The only thing that I wanna say to her son is to appreciate what his mother do to him and give it back from his mother… because no mother wants his/her childen to be disrespect.

324. Paul — June 22, 2012 at 5:51 am

No words to say about that mother’s love, really I love this story.

325. Attaullah — June 23, 2012 at 12:38 am

If many realise the important of their parents through such stories then it’s great. Dear friends, parents are priceless. Love them. Don’t wait until it is your turn to become parents to realize the importance of parents.

It is a really heart touching story. We should never do that type of recklessness toward our moms. Today, the life which we are leading happily on this earth was because our moms who gave us birth.

334. Unnati Ghosh — July 2, 2012 at 4:28 am

This story was heart touching. I have heard about this story quite sometime in school. May God bless all the children to respect their parents because they are a treasure.

335. Ife Eru — July 3, 2012 at 12:00 pm

What a rude son having your mother do that for u and u not even care when she died and she gave u her eye omg!!! She was the made fun of instead of u that could have been being while she did not care but she did.

336. Mah Baby — July 4, 2012 at 1:26 pm

I could only feel my tears rolling down my face. This is such a great story that could inspire a lot of people!!!

337. Mbaeri Samson — July 6, 2012 at 4:48 pm

I wish I could see my mom totally blind, at least feel her presence but I was denied of that opportunity. Is like those that have mom doesn’t know the importance of mom, I live with a heart broke knowing that I grew up without a mothering care. Mom, I would have taken you around the world to show you how preciouse you are to me.

338. Sakshi — July 7, 2012 at 6:33 am

Mom can do every thing for her child but a child can only be embarrassed when she gave to him her eye.

339. Omar Fakhair — July 7, 2012 at 10:24 am

A very sad story which reflect to all sons and daughters of life. While our parents, our relatives or the people we have known as our family are still with us, we must love them and care for them as much as we can. Great things are appreciated when it is over and difinitely if it will disappear before our eyes.

340. Nithin .N Alexander — July 10, 2012 at 11:11 am

This story is very touching. We should try to respect his\her mother and don’t tease her. We have to thank God for giving us such loving mothers.

342. Manjula — July 13, 2012 at 5:30 am

Its very interesting and emotional story.
I really love my mother……….

343. Drish_12 — July 13, 2012 at 10:26 am

I love this story. I first heard this story from our English instructor…

The time we evaluated this story, we gave our opinion on what will happen next in this story..on what will the son do/did to his mother or what mother do/did to her son….

And in the end I cry and some of my classmate cry also and give opinion on and hate the man in this story…. and I always remember this story. I’m not a perfect child, bad at the same time but not bad as the son in this story..

Love our mother/parents whatever they are, physically, mentally or financial not give our wants in this world…. They are our parents so we need to love them……

344. Jana — July 15, 2012 at 4:11 am

This story was really touching. I don’t speak lies. Like this, I also got scold my lovely father, I always be anger with my mother.

When I read this story I love my parents. I promise from this day I love my parents.

345. Eman — July 15, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Nice story… Really many times we don’t value a person or things when they are with us but when we loose them then only we realise their value.

My words fall short to describe our mothers and fathers. It’s just because of them we are on this beautiful planet.

346. Ritika Gupta — July 16, 2012 at 3:32 am

Oh!!! That ungrateful child!! I love my mom so much that I can do anything for her, even death. Love you mom.

347. Loulou — July 16, 2012 at 11:36 am

I love my mom and dad the most in the world. Whoever reads this remember nobody loves u more than how ur mom and dad love u.

They take care of u and sacrafice their life for u and when they’re gone there’s nobody that can take care of u and love u more than ur mom and dad. They’re pretty much all u can wish for.

348. Nidhi — July 17, 2012 at 2:31 am

He should have died out of shame. I hate who forget his mother.

356. Becca — July 25, 2012 at 5:30 am

I don’t know what to say about this. It’s really a sad story. Mothers do all they can to make their kids happy.

Children lets be careful of what we do. Some of these actions can kill.

357. MOHAN GUPTA — July 25, 2012 at 11:55 am

This story resemble the true love of mother towards her children

358. Tshepiso — July 25, 2012 at 9:58 pm

Really touching. Love u mom

359. Nooruddin khan — July 26, 2012 at 3:01 am

Wow… awesome story. This shows the love and affection of our mothers on us. And one thing we came to know from this story is that mothers sacrifice everything we need and for which we even do not need… That is the true love of mothers.

A mother’s love is always greater than the whole world’s love. A single mother can make hundred kids to be successful in their lives but those hundred successful kids don’t even want to see their moms’ face… that is the world.

360. Bendita Tabuena — July 26, 2012 at 2:58 am

Oh my gosh !! This is so touching !! …. The right thing to do with that people who insult their mother is to die !! haha so brutal .. but I really like this story .. :[ this is so .. oh my gosh ! I can’t explain my feelings !!

So please, to all people keep intouch w/ ur mother and father .. coz f u can see their doings .. u’ll just say “tnx 4 everything.. w/out u and also God, I would not be here ..”

I luv u mom and dad .. I luv u ve……..ry much !!

361. G Varsha Singh — July 27, 2012 at 5:01 am

It’s a very touching story….. Mom I Love U

362. Gaurav Dubey — July 28, 2012 at 7:43 am

It’s really such a sad story that no one can stop himself bursting in to tears. Our parents do a lot for us and it’s our duty to be proud to have them, we should not be embarrassed for any of their activity. Doesn’t matter what the world says about them because we are for our parents not for this unreal world.

I LOVE MY PARENTS……….

363. Arghya — July 28, 2012 at 8:21 am

364. Hannah — July 29, 2012 at 1:27 am

365. Santosh Kumari — July 29, 2012 at 4:00 am

I like this story a lot. Thinking of mother only one thing comes to mind her dedication towards family without any expections and most of the hearts fill with tears as all mothers have a different stories which people does not even bother but to me for every one mom should be the ideal person in the world.

366. Maisuriya Sagar — July 30, 2012 at 12:01 am

That’s a mother’s love. No one can be able to do this even his wife. He should be pround of having such a mother. But he didn’t understand his mother’s love. That’s so sad.

374. Eam Ferraren — August 4, 2012 at 11:21 pm

Somehow we often realize of our future, but we don’t realize about our parents in the future, we might say that “Mom, Dad if I grow up I would take you all over the world, I will build a large house that is like a palace and we will all live on it forever and ever.” But, as the time passes by we haven’t know that our parents wants us to fulfill that dream with them, we all don’t care about them until when the day comes that they will leave us alone we always recall the memories we had done with us and the misery of their love

375. Megha — August 5, 2012 at 7:20 am

We should respect our mothers. I would like to tell all the children to at least respect their own parents who struggled for 9 months for bearing us.

376. Ahlam — August 6, 2012 at 11:16 am

SOOOOO sad I <3 u mom.

383. Irik — August 21, 2012 at 4:23 am

Such a sad story. If someone says that your mother ugly or anything, don’t care about them. If u care about them, when you’re old u never be in heaven instead of being in the flaming depts of hell!!!

384. Mahbub — August 21, 2012 at 9:36 am

MIND BLOWING STORY. You have opened the eyes of many sons through the story. May Allah bless you.

385. Jaezel — August 22, 2012 at 2:14 pm

We never realise the importance of our parents until the time we are no longer living with them and what a jerk how can someone do this to his mother! You don’t deserve to have a mother!

386. NARENDER — August 23, 2012 at 4:25 am

Hats of to all the mothers

387. Geeta Reddy — August 24, 2012 at 12:52 am

391. CHY — August 27, 2012 at 5:07 am

A mum ‘s choice is always including her children’s need. Sometimes, their children don’t understand their mother, but the mother always think of their children. That’s a pity.
