My mother told me this story as a child. I am reminded of it every time I face adversity in my life (recently a severe attack of gout–very, very painful). The attitude of the old mule (as one old mule to another ), got me through it. I have learned these stories taught young in life live with you forever and can be your comfort and salvation when all seems lost.
